Superbike, Pirelli Riviera di Rimini Round, Race 1. Difficult day for the Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, scene of the eighth round of the Championship: in Tissot-Superpole both Davies and Giugliano struggled with qualifying tyres, finishing only on the third row and also on the luck was not on their side.

A few meters after the start, Davies was in fact involved in the contact between Fores and Savadori: to avoid them he had to run wide on the escape route, having no other option than to slip away in the group and rejoin in 22nd position.
From here he launched a great comeback, completing 18 overtakes and also showing the most competitive race pace on the track which led him to finish in fourth position.
Analyzing the Welshman's impressive pace only increases his garage's regret for a more than likely missed podium for reasons certainly not attributable to Davies.

Giugliano, on the other hand, made an excellent start and immediately moved up to third place: just on the second lap, however, while driving at the limit so as not to lose ground to Rea and Sykes, he slipped at low speed at turn 14, and then resumed the race for last place more than twenty seconds from the top.
Despite the damaged fairing, the Roman driver gritted his teeth and crossed the finish line in fourteenth place.

In Race 2 the two Ducati standard bearers will certainly take to the track very focused and determined to give their home fans a good day: start at 13pm local time.

“I'm very disappointed, for myself and for my team, because we managed to make an excellent start and we could have achieved a great result. In the crash, the motorbike suffered no damage other than the broken fairing" – he said David Giugliano – “It was important to finish the race, taking all the points possible. Initially I struggled to get back into the rhythm, but gradually we managed to catch up and towards the end we were as fast as the leaders. We are competitive and we will certainly do it again tomorrow."

“It's a shame about the contact at the start which forced me to go off the track on the escape route, but these are things that can happen in racing, especially after a complicated qualifying” – he declared Chaz Davies – “Unfortunately, with the tire some time ago the rear began to push a lot, altering the behavior of the bike. However, I am really satisfied with the pace we managed to keep in the race. If nothing else the comeback was fun, it's a shame we just missed out on the podium. Tomorrow is another day and, with a good start, we will have our chance."

“Today the Superpole made our life a little more complicated. With race tyres, both Chaz and Davide had been very competitive, but starting from the third row penalized them" – he said Ernesto Marinelli, Superbike Project Director – “Davide started well, unfortunately he slipped but continued the race anyway. Chaz was the fastest on the track in the second part of the race, recovering almost five seconds from the leaders, but the initial crash penalized him. However, we have shown that we have excellent potential and, with a less unfortunate start, we will be able to do it again tomorrow."
