Positive start to the weekend at Estoril for Nicky Hayden. The 2006 world champion achieved the second fastest time behind Jorge Lorenzo, showing himself to be very fast in the wet even if he thought it took him a little too long to climb up the rankings.

“This morning there was really too much water on the track to ride, it was like a river, so we decided to wait until the afternoon to start testing. This track doesn't guarantee much grip, especially at the rear where we need to improve, because the asphalt is not particularly abrasive. But I felt very comfortable with the front because the Ducati works well in the wet: the engine management system is good and allows us excellent control. Lately I've always been fast in the wet, but it takes me too long to get there. If it rains on Sunday and I'm competitive, I'll need to be fast from the start so, if the conditions are the same tomorrow, we'll focus our work on that aspect.”
