Team LCR Honda rider Cal Crutchlow qualifies on the sixth row for the Catalunya GP after another difficult day aboard his RC213V. The Briton set the 12th fastest time in the "hot" FP3 of the morning, having to also test himself in Q1. A crash at the end of these did not allow him to improve his time to access Q2. Cruthclow wasn't the only one who had to deal with the Catalan asphalt; among others also the local idol Marquez who crashed four times while his teammate Pedrosa took pole followed by Lorenzo and Petrucci.

Here are the words of Cal Crutchlow: “It's been a difficult weekend so far, without a shadow of a doubt but I'm still smiling because 17th place on the grid doesn't reflect our potential. I wasn't the only Honda rider to crash today… eight crashes for Honda so there's not much to say. We just have to do our best to bring home something positive tomorrow."
