MotoGP | Italian GP Race: Bagnaia, “Winning at Mugello is cool”

Italian GP Mugello Ducati MotoGP 2022 – A great Pecco Bagnaia won the Italian Grand Prix in the MotoGP class, eighth race of the 2022 MotoGP championship, held at Mugello.

The Ducati rider, taking his second victory after the one in Jerez, made a great recovery after a less than brilliant start, crossing the finish line ahead of Fabio Quartararo's Yamaha and Aleix Espargarò's Aprilia.

With this victory Bagnaia moves to 41 points behind leader Quartararo. Here's what the #63 of the two-wheeled "Red" had to say to Sky Sport.

“Winning at Mugello is cool, it's monstrous. I'm very happy, it was beautiful, it's a shame there wasn't an invasion of the track. On the grid I didn't trust the hard front tyre, it was a conservative choice but in the end it was ok. Today, with the rain that fell during the night, the track offered less grip and I didn't get a good start. Then I pushed hard, I managed to recover and I immediately wanted to pass Bezzecchi to put a gap. I didn't want to get to the last lap with Fabio (Quartararo) too close. Today in braking I was very strong even though there was a little more wind, I had a reference and if I took it everything was perfect. I arrived here after the mistake at Le Mans convinced I was having a good race, but when you know you made a mistake, it's easier to start again. It was an incredible weekend, we were always fast, we're there too. It's special to win at Mugello, in front of the Italian public and also with the Ducati. I saw meadows with many flags and the #63, it was exciting. I also congratulate Bezzecchi and Marini, yesterday they conquered the front row and today they drove an incredible race.”
