Italian GP Mugello Monster Yamaha MotoGP 2022 – An amazing Fabio Quartararo achieved the podium at Mugello, scene of the Italian Grand Prix, eighth stage of the 2022 MotoGP.

The Yamaha rider, having returned to a motorbike with a "standard" fairing, ran an attacking race, surrendering only to Pecco Bagnaia. “El Diablo” was the only rider on the track with Japanese bikes to undermine the Ducati and also beat Aleix Espargarò's Aprilia.

This precious second place leads him to strengthen his leadership of the world rankings, albeit slightly. He now leads with 122 points against Aleix Espargarò's 114, Enea Bastianini's 94 and Bagnaia's 81.

Nice arrival at parc fermé with the flag of Jason Dupasquier (see photo, ed.), who passed away last year during the qualifying of the Moto3 class at Mugello. Here's what Yamaha's #20 said to Sky Sport.

Statements Fabio Quartararo Italian GP Mugello MotoGP 2022

“It was the best race of my career. It was a very difficult weekend, before the race I thought I would finish outside the Top 5. Friday and Saturday I didn't have confidence, then we went back to the standard bike and I started feeling the front again. With the standard bike (old fairing, ed.) I went back to overtaking that I didn't even think was possible. The aerodynamics don't make the difference, I think the handling is more important.”
