Moto2 | Australian GP FP1: Martin outdoes Bulega in the wet
Very difficult session, half of the riders crashed
Moto2 Australian GP Phillip Island Free Practice 1 – Jorge Martin wins the first free practice session of the Australian Grand Prix, seventeenth stage of the 2019 MotoGP world championship.
The KTM Ajo team rider, on a wet track, stopped the clock at 1:46.315 ahead of Nicolò Bulega, who dominated the entire session until a few seconds from the end, and an extraordinary Stefano Manzi of MV Agusta Forwar.
Xavi Vierge finished fourth with a final fall, preceding Tom Luthi and Andrea Locatelli (ItalTrans). Excellent seventh for Marco Bezzecchi (Tech3) who precedes Sam Lowes and world championship leader Alex Marquez, who crashed fortunately without consequences in the first minutes. Marcel Schrotter completes the top ten.
Lorenzo Baldassarri (FlexBox HP40) finished 14th, but crashed, fortunately without consequences, on the lap in which he was improving. All the other Italians were also on the ground with Enea Bastianini (ItalTrans) finishing 28th ahead of Fabio Di Giannantonio (SpeedUp) and Mattia Pasini (Tasca Racing). Luca Marini's session lasted a few seconds, the Sky Racing Team VR46 driver was in fact the author of a high side at the start of the session and was taken to the mobile clinic to check his shoulder.
