Moto2 | GP Assen FP1: Dixon in the lead, Arbolino is sixth
The #96 of Team Aspar ahead of the SpeedUp drivers Lopez and Aldeguer
Moto2 Dutch GP Assen Free Practice 1 – Jake Dixon set the best time in the first free practice session of the Moto2 class Dutch Grand Prix, eighth race of the 2023 MotoGP championship, scheduled for the Assen TT.
The Team Aspar driver was the fastest with a time of 1:36.865, a time that allowed him to precede the two Boscoscuros of Team SpeedUp of Alonso Lopez and Fermin Aldeguer by 0.031s and 0.119s respectively.
Fourth and fifth times were Pedro Acosta (Red Bull Ajo) and Ai Ogura, with our Tony Arbolino (Marc VDS), leader of the world championship standings, sixth at 0.277s from the top.
The Top Ten also included Joe Roberts (Italtrans), Barry Baltus (RW Racing GP), Filip Salac (Gresini) and Somkiat Chantra (Team Asia).
Also in the top 14 and therefore in provisional Q2 were Jeremy Alcoba (Gresini), Sam Lowes (Marc VDS), Celestino Vietti (Fantic Racing) and Aron Canet (Pons).
Dennis Foggia, category rookie of Team Italtrans, finished 22nd after also crashing without consequences.
