Moto3 | Gp Assen FP1: Masia ahead of Nepa and Fenati
Pit accident between Oncu and Yamanaka
Moto3 Dutch GP Assen Free Practice 1 – Jaume Masia was the fastest in the first free practice sessions for the Moto3 class Dutch Grand Prix, the eighth round of the 2023 MotoGP championship scheduled for Assen.
The Team Leopard rider took his Honda to the top with a time of 1:41.667, ahead of our Stefano Nepa (KTM MTA) and Romano Fenati, 0.262s and 0.376s behind respectively.
Xavier Artigas riding the CFMoto of PruestelGP is fourth, ahead of the Honda of Team SIC58 Squadra Corse of our Riccardo Rossi and the KTM of Team MT Helmets – MSI of Diogo Moreira.
Closing out the Top Ten are Ayumu Sasaki with the Husqvarna of Team Intact GP, our Andrea Migno with the KTM of Team CIP, David Munoz with the KTM of Team BOE and Joel Kelso, with the second CFMoto of PruestelGP.
Also in provisional Q2 were Josè Antonio Rueda (KTM Red Bull Ajo), Matteo Bertelle (Honda Snipers), Sachsenring winner Deniz Oncu (KTM Red Bull Ajo) and Adrian Fernandez (Honda Leopard). Twenty-first time for rookie Filippo Farioli (KTM Tech 3).
Of note is the accident between Deniz Oncu and Ryusei Yamanaka which occurred at the beginning of the session in the pit lane. The Japanese driver of Team Aspar hit the Turkish driver of Team Red Bull Ajo who had braked, most likely to warm up his brakes. No consequences for them but damage to the bikes which then took to the track.
