The English Donington Park circuit will return to the FIM Superbike World Championship calendar for next season and for the following two years, after a new agreement was signed with Infront Motor Sport for 2011, 2012 and 2013. The track , located in Leicestershire, will host the European Round of the Championship on the weekend of 25-27 March and will resume a tradition that began in 1988, when on 3 April it was the scene of the first round of the newly created Superbike World Championship, with the victories of Davide Tardozzi (Bimota) and Marco Lucchinelli (Ducati). The last time this track was raced was 2009, when Ben Spies on Yamaha was the protagonist of a splendid one-two.

Kevin Wheatcroft, Chairman of Donington Park Racing Limited, said he was delighted to have brought such an important motorcycling event back to the Donington Park circuit. “It was my father's dream, and after his death last year, I really wanted to organize a world-class event in his memory.”

Paolo Flammini, CEO of Infront Motor Sports, is also satisfied with the agreement. “We are really pleased to bring the Superbike World Championship back to Donington Park for the European Championship Round. Precisely on this circuit, 23 years ago, the Superbike World Championship began its history, and over the years Donington Park has been the scene of very spectacular races. We are sure that the event will be a great success with the public in 2011 too, thanks above all to the presence of the best British riders in both Superbike and Supersport”.
