The lights go out at the Losail International Circuit and the curtain falls on the 2014 season of the Eni FIM Superbike World Championship, with Sylvain Guintoli winning race 2 and snatching the championship title from Tom Sykes.

This is the first world title for the transalpine driver, obtained with an advantage of just 6 points over Sykes.
Guintoli had the merit of always believing in it even when the lead had risen to more than 30 points, also thanks to Aprilia who provided him with the best bike of the lot.
However, Sykes still regrets not having been his usual driver in the final rounds and perhaps having managed his large lead too smugly.
Harsh words addressed to Baz at the end of Race 2 for the young driver's conduct in the first heat, where he ignored team orders.

    Well deserved title.

In addition to his driving skills, he displayed a calm attitude even in the most difficult moments.

Consistency and work have paid off and even if you don't have the skills of the great champion, Guintoli has shown us that if you work hard, the "call" will come sooner or later, you just need to be ready and respond "present".

    Great Sylvain
