Superbike, Pirelli Riviera di Rimini Round. At the end of the day of free practice at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli, scene of the eighth round of the championship, the first eight riders were within three tenths of a second, with the Kawasaki Racing Team finishing with the third fastest time set by Tom Sykes and the Eighth by Jonathan Rea.

A result that you wouldn't expect from the reigning world champion, who however for his part took advantage of the time available to work on the set up for the race and although the KRT did not choose to carry out the tests at the beginning of June in Misano, both Rea and Sykes showed good pace.

The Northern Irish driver in particular did a race simulation, concentrated on the tires and gathered as much information as possible to best prepare for qualifying and the two races.

“We are not far away and we made a good step forward between FP1 and FP2” – he explained Jonathan Rhea – “I had some bouncing problems at the beginning, but by the afternoon everything had been resolved. We did a long run, a race simulation, and got good information. It seems that the track uses the tires more than last year. Some intermediate times are very constant, whether we use new or used tyres. We were lucky because it was very hot and we were able to evaluate the new rear tire that Pirelli brought, and it seems to have worked well. I'm quite satisfied."

The Northern Irishman will evaluate the final adjustments in the third free practice session which on Saturday morning precedes the Tissot-Superpole, 10 am, and Race 30, 1 pm.
