Superbike Magny-Cours FP2: Chaz Davies confirms himself as the fastest
Behind him a great Leon Camier scored the second half, ahead of Tom Sykes
Superbike, Fassi French Round, Free Practice 2. everyone was waiting for the Kawasakis and instead the one who emerges as the man to beat on this Friday of free practice is Chaz Davies, who finished the two free practice sessions at the Circuit de Nevers Magny-Cours with the best time.
The session took place under clear skies and temperatures were rising, therefore ideal conditions to best prepare for the weekend.
The Ducati rider posted consistently faster times until reaching a 1'37.836 which proved decisive.
The surprise of the day was Leon Camier, who obtained the second best reference, showing an impressive state of form, ahead of Tom Sykes, third at +0.232 at the end of a rather complicated session, which saw him return three times on foot in the pits, due to problems with the rear of his bike.
The reigning world champion Jonathan Rea finished in fourth position, ahead of Alex Lowes who returned to the saddle after a fall in the first laps: he crashed at turn 3 and left the track limping, fortunately without consequences.
Michael van der Mark set the sixth best time, after the technical problems suffered in the first session, while Xavi Fores obtained seventh place in the standings and direct access to the second qualifying heat.
Same thing for Lorenzo Savadori, eighth ahead of the host Sylvain Guintoli and Jordi Torres.
Instead, Nicky Hayden, who missed the top 10, will have to go on track at 10:30, while Tissot-Superpole 2 will start at 10:55.
Once the starting grid has been determined, Race 1 will start at 13pm.
The drivers will still have 15 minutes available in the morning to work on the set up, thanks to the third free practice session scheduled for 8am.
