Superbike, Lausitzring, Race 2: Xavi Fores on the third step of the podium
The Spaniard celebrates his first podium in WorldSBK
Superbike, Pirelli German Round, Race 2. Once again the weather provided surprises and messed up the values on the track, as had already happened this year in Malaysia and Holland: at the Lausitzring this morning a storm forced the Race Direction, with the full support of the drivers, to delay the start of Race 2 of 40 minutes, due to the completely flooded track.
In these conditions, the drivers set off to cover the 16 laps planned with great caution, taking care to avoid the pitfalls of the track, which dried out unevenly: the result was an almost elimination race where those who knew how to best dose sensitivity of driving and unscrupulousness prevailed.
Among these, Xavi Forés, driver of the Barni Racing Team, undoubtedly deserves applause, as he managed to climb onto the third step of the podium for the first time in the premier category of production derivatives, behind the reigning champion Jonathan Rea and Alex De Angelis of the team IodaRacing.
“I'm really happy with the result, it's my first podium in WorldSBK. I'm happy above all because during the weekend we had many problems in the dry, and we were looking for a good set-up for the bike. I was hoping for a wet race because I felt good on the bike” – he declared Xavi Fores – “I want to enjoy the result with my team. I would like to thank Barni (Team Principal Marco Barnabò) who recently lost his father, so this result is for him."
The Championship will return in two weeks, with the eleventh round of the season, at Magny-Cours in France for the Fassi French Round.
