Superbike, Pirelli German Round, Lausitzring, Free Practice 1. There was great anticipation for the return of the World Championship of production derivatives on the Lausitzring track in Germany, where it had not competed since 2007.

Surprisingly, in the first free practice session, the fastest was Jordi Torres, who set the fastest lap in the final stages, ahead of Alex Lowes and Leon Camier.
The feeling is that most of the riders took to the track cautiously to begin to get to know the track better in view of the two races of the weekend, before working on speed: the risk of forcing it is that of compromising the entire round and no one will wanted to take a similar risk.
Good start in front of their fans for BMW who with Team Althea immediately placed their bike at the top of the timesheets.

With the fourth fastest time we find Michael Van der Mark ahead of teammate Nicky Hayden, immediately ahead of Tom Sykes.
In seventh place goes home hero Markus Reiterberger, while in eighth we find Chaz Davies of Aruba.it Ducati.
Sylvain Guintoli had a good session, also like Reiterberger returning from a long stop due to injury: for him a ninth temple ahead of the reigning champion Jonathan Rea.

Of note is the accident which involved Luca Scassa, who replaces Fabio Menghi in VFT Racing, against his will: fortunately he was able to return shortly after.
Team Toth's Pawel Szkopek and IodaRacing's Alex De Angelis also suffered a crash in the final minutes of the session, without consequences.
