“I'm happy with how I managed the Superpole Race and arrived on the podium. When I came out of the last chicane I wondered how defensive Remy Gardner would be. When he cut to the left I thought: “I have to pass him!” After three or four laps of Race Two I realized that I was quite fast and was moving forward. Jonathan Rea had started well but he was coming back to me. I had very good acceleration coming out of the last corner compared to him, so I tried to brake him in the first corner. T1 was my best chance of passing. I was trying to stop the bike a little more at the apex, to prevent it from passing me when exiting the corner. I lost the front, by myself, but since I was overtaking him under braking, where could he go? Then he hit me while I was slipping. It's a shame because I had the chance to have another good performance in that race. I went to apologize to Jonathan and his boys. It's also a shame because we're doing well, getting a lot out of the bike and riding it to the limit. I would have liked to get points in the last race, but the Assen weekend in general was quite good."
