Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) took his first Tissot Superpole of this season, the sixth of his career, in the final stages of qualifying for the Geico US Round at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca.

The Welshman returns to the front row for the first time since Imola 2017, beating Tom Sykes and Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK).
The Ducatista had already dominated this morning's free practice session and his 1'22.282 represented the time to beat for his rivals in the final laps, also following Baz's crash at the Corkscrew which forced the display of the yellow flags and he forced his opponents to slow down, and they had no chance of beating the Welshman.

Also on the front row with Davies will be Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK), second just fifteen thousandths behind.

Laverty will open the second row together with Alex Lowes and his teammate Lorenzo Savadori (Milwaukee Aprilia).

Leon Camier (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) continues to improve after his injury and takes seventh position, ahead of Xavi Fores (Barni Racing Team), eighth. Van Der Mark closes the third row, ninth.

Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) suffered almost a second from his teammate and was perhaps the rider most affected by Baz's crash, as he was unable to complete the last timed lap.
The Italian will start from tenth position, ahead of Jordi Torres (MV Agusta Reparto Corse), eleventh.
Twelfth was Baz, who failed to set a time.
