Jonathan Rea (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) took his seventh win of the season in Race 1 at Laguna Seca following a great duel with Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati).

Both Rea and Davies started from the front row and the race soon became a question between the two, after the Kawasaki rider passed Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team WorldSBK) before entering Turn 1. Behind them, Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) started to put pressure on Sykes in third, while Lorenzo Savadori (Milwaukee Aprilia) crashed after an excellent start.
On lap seven, Davies made a small mistake while braking at the Corkscrew, allowing Rea to launch the attack and take the lead.
The race hadn't started long, but the two had already created a significant gap on their pursuers, with the third in fact four seconds behind.

The gap was also created between the first two, there was no chance for Davies to make up ground on Rea, who with each passing lap moved to a two-second lead.

Behind the duo, Alex Lowes passed Sykes to take third position, but the KRT driver also let himself be overtaken by
Eugene Laverty (Milwaukee Aprilia), who will therefore start from pole tomorrow, by Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) who redeemed himself after a disappointing qualifying, and by Xavi Fores (Barni Racing Team) in the final stages.

Tom Sykes appeared less comfortable in the race than in Superpole, but at least he managed to defend seventh position from Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team), who had to settle for eighth.
Behind them Torres (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) and Jake Gagne (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) closed the top 10.

Next appointment tomorrow at 23pm, Italian time, with Race00.
