MotoGP Test Jerez Day 1 Honda Repsol – Pol Espargarò closed the first day of official IRTA testing on the Jerez track with the thirteenth fastest time.

After the heavy crash in Valencia, the Spaniard is back on the Honda RC213V for the last test of the 2021 calendar. Still not 100%, Pol concentrated on two sessions, one in the morning and one in the afternoon. Today's program focused on getting Espargarò back to being comfortable and confident after the crash in Valencia. The #44 worked on a series of tests together with Alex Marquez and Takaaki Nakagami.

“I feel pretty good today, I have a bit of pain in my ribs and wrist and I struggled to ride a bit today because of this. But it's really important for the team, and also for me, to do some laps with the new bike and get as much information as possible. Today I tried to make myself comfortable after the huge accident in Valencia. Tomorrow we have another day of testing which we hope will go a little better. The plan for tomorrow is to work harder for the future and based on what we saw today, it looks promising. The new parts and bikes are like lollipops for children for us, a great motivation!”.
