MotoGP – Phillip Island – Rain hinders the Yamaha riders, Rossi the fastest
The Yamaha riders concluded the 2nd day of testing at the Phillip Island circuit, Australia. The difficult weather conditions affected the program as they did yesterday, the rain that fell in the morning prevented the riders from lapping in the early hours even if conditions improved in the afternoon. The fastest on the track was world champion Valentino Rossi who covered 1 laps with his M74s, achieving a best time of 1.30.65, a better time than yesterday but still far from the 1'29.68 obtained by the Pesaro rider for three weeks does. Behind him was the American Colin Edwards with 1'31.00.
Both drivers continued work on the Michelin tires and suspension of their M1.
Also on track were Ruben Xaus and Toni Elias who achieved 1'32.32 (68 laps) and 1.32.70 respectively. (90 laps).
