Andrea Dovizioso is convinced that he can fight for the podium tomorrow at Phillip Island, the scene of the penultimate stage of the 2012 world championship. The Yamaha Tech 3 Team rider has an excellent race pace, but was unable to take advantage of the soft tyre, obtaining the sixth time. The word is up to him.

“The session started very well and I was immediately fast and with a good pace which put me in the top three. My race pace is around 31 and should be competitive enough to be in contention for the podium. The problem came when I tried to improve my time with a new soft rear tyre. Immediately the bike started to slide a lot and didn't have the grip I expected. I didn't have a good feeling and it was impossible to push as I would have liked. We need to analyze what could have caused this and if you consider that I couldn't improve with a new soft tire on the rear, then I'm quite happy to still be in the top six. We improved the bike in every session and I'm sure that tomorrow we will be fighting for the podium.”
