MotoGP – Phillip Island Day 1 – Dani Pedrosa: "I'm quite happy"

Dani Pedrosa achieved the third best time today in the first free practice session at Phillip Island, the third to last race of the 2009 season. The Spanish centaur of Team Honda Repsol was able to benefit from fairly good weather like his "colleagues", which allowed him to use both soft compound and hard compound tyres. “We finally got lucky with the weather today and it's very nice to be able to start here at Phillip Island with a dry session and reasonable temperatures. This allowed us to complete some useful testing with the Bridgestone tires and, although the surface was a little dusty, grip should improve over the course of the weekend. We tried both the harder and softer compounds and it will be an important choice for Sunday, because there could be low temperatures for the start of the race. So we have to carefully analyze the tires in the warm up, especially on the left side, because there are a lot of corners on the left. I'm quite happy with how today went and I'm sure the times will go down tomorrow, weather permitting.”
