The reigning Yamaha champion scores his fourth pole of 2013, Hayden does well with the Ducati

For the first time this year due to the cancellation of all three free practice sessions (caused by poor visibility which did not allow the medical helicopter to take off in case of emergency), the riders of the MotoGP class competed the pole position all together and with a session lasting an hour and a quarter.

A qualifying took place at the Twin Ring in Motegi (the scene of the penultimate stage of the 2013 world championship)Old Style“, with the twenty-five riders (including Yamaha wild card Katsuyuki Nakasuga) who took to the track with rain tires given the wet asphalt.

A hard-fought qualifying, which ultimately rewarded the reigning champion Jorge Lorenzo, who stopped the clock at a time of 1:53.471. For the Majorcan from Yamaha (who is second in the championship, 18 points behind Marquez) this is the fourth pole of 2013.

Tomorrow next to him on the front row he will have his compatriot Marquez from Honda, more than six tenths behind him, and the surprise of the day, Nicky Hayden's Ducati. The American was very strong in the wet, demonstrating that he can still be among the protagonists of MotoGP. We remind you that next year Kentuki Kid will be riding a Honda RCV1000R Production Racer from the Aspar Martinez Team.

Fourth time and first place on the second row for Dani Pedrosa, with the second Honda of Team Repsol. The Spaniard #26 who lapped in 1:54.542 preceded our Valentino Rossi with the second Yamaha Factory (1.261 off the top) and Andrea Dovizioso, in the second row with the other Ducati of the internal team.

The Forlì native preceded the Spaniard Alvaro Bautista, who crashed at the end of the session at turn 7. No consequences for the Team Gresini rider, but the last part of the session was ruined. The returning Stefan Bradl (Team LCR Honda) is eighth and ahead of Aleix Espargarò's CRT and Yonny Hernandez's Team Pramac Ducati.

Only eleventh was Cal Crutchlow, followed by two other Yamahas, those of wild card Katsuyuki Nakasuga and team-mate Bradley Smith. The Italians with the CRTs are Danilo Petrucci (Ioda Suter BMW of the Came Iodaracing Team) sixteenth, Luca Scassa (ART Aprilia of Team Cardion AB) twentieth and Claudio Corti (FTR Kawasaki of Team NGM Mobile) twenty-first. Difficult qualifying for Andrea Iannone, fifteenth with the second Ducati of Team Pramac.

This race remains very uncertain, even if Jorge seems to have a great pace, we'll have to see what tomorrow's weather predicts. Poor Marquez had the world championship in his pocket and everything went smoothly until the last race. The rain is the worst condition that could happen to him, with the rain he loses much of the advantage that the bike and his riding give him. He will find himself having to battle with the other Hondas, Yamahas and Ducatis, without being able to take big risks because he has to aim for the world championship and stay standing, while Lorenzo can take all the risks he wants by being the one he chases.

the race is dry tomorrow, Marquez just needs to stay calm and maybe even settle for second place, while Lorenzo, who has more experience, is also assisted by an excellent vehicle.

it will be an interesting race (let's hope uncle doesn't invent something else)

With the rain it's an unknown for everyone.

If tomorrow is dry, WU becomes dominant, where, in a few minutes, they will have to make a set-up that gives a bit of confidence and is also profitable.

With both weather conditions, there will be those who will take advantage of the opportunity to try some surprise "cards".

It will probably end with the script already written, but this seems to me to be one of the most difficult races to predict.

The two competing for the World Cup may think of playing a waiting game to see how things go, or they will try to catch each other off guard.
The supporting actors will venture something, but it could be too much, or too little or completely wrong.

The only certain thing is the Ducati race.
Even though Hayden did an excellent qualifying, he is not a wet rider (if he was) and the bike doesn't work in the dry.

In the end they will be able to have one of the best races seen this year, but still strictly "far" from the leaders, perhaps they will fight in the group of "seconds", perhaps for a while.

    Day full of sports!

    MotoGP F1 and boxing.

Qualifying went as it did... Tomorrow, it seems, will be dry... The drivers will have to start from 0 (or almost, with settings and related references, which change from one year to the next, due to the various innovations) and do everything in the 40-minute free practice session tomorrow morning. Provided that these free practices take place in similar weather conditions to the race...

    VERY uncertain race.

Lorenzo and his team are the most skilled at finding a good set-up quickly... So potentially in these conditions he has a big advantage...

Marc, on the other hand, will have to find all the various references, as well as a good set-up...

Congratulations to Hayden, but there was no doubt that the Gp12 offers good performance in the wet (worth mentioning when Nicky said about the material at his disposal). Good boy!…

I expected something more from Dovi, too bad.

    ___

Other news today: Guaro leaves Ducati (destination for SKY/VR46 team).

And the most important one... Ben Spies' withdrawal from competitions!

    ...

Tomorrow there will also be F1 in India, a USELESS circuit, built a few years ago, and which will not be on the calendar next year (to return in 2015, but this is very difficult).

Boxing… Congratulations to Russo! Become the World Champion again!
