Jonathan Rea finishes the Misano grand prix 8th, his first race in MotoGP. The Briton, who replaced Stoner who was injured during the Indy Grand Prix, finished 43 seconds behind the winner, Jorge Lorenzo and 3 seconds behind Hayden, the only MotoGP he saw up close for the entire race. The Englishman's race was certainly not a memorable one but the fact that even a talent like him on his racing debut on a MotoGP went badly demonstrates once again that the prototypes of the world championship with all that electronics they have are certainly not easy bikes to ride.. The word is up to him.

“It was a difficult race and I just wanted to find my rhythm and maintain it. I'm still far from the limit, I only made a couple of mistakes but I'm still getting to grips with the bike. I'm very happy with the progress I made throughout the race and I learned a lot; in fact, in the tests you cannot prove what you experience in the race, such as tire wear and fuel load which make the bike behave differently. I almost managed to catch Nicky (Hayden), but in the end it wasn't enough. Finishing eighth is ok, but the gap with those in front is a bit frustrating. Overall I'm still happy and can't wait to race in Aragon. I want to thank the entire Repsol Honda team for their hard work and support and to all the fans at home.”
