MotoGP 2015 GP San Marino and Riviera di Rimini – The second free practice session of the MotoGP class at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli saw Jorge Lorenzo excel.

The Yamaha rider set the best time with a time of 1:32.871, a time that allowed him to beat the reigning champion and compatriot Marc Marquez by just 53 thousandths.

Third time for Dani Pedrosa, winner here in 2010, Honda's only victory in the last seven races. The rider from Sabadell is ahead of the first Ducati, Andrea Dovizioso's GP15 and Valentino Rossi's Yamaha.

The world championship leader has the fifth fastest time and has a gap from the top of 0.598s. An overall positive start for the champion from Pesaro, who however will have to improve his feeling with his M1 if he wants to repeat last season's success on Sunday.

Rossi is followed by his teammate Pol Espargarò and the excellent Danilo Petrucci, who after the podium at Silverstone is also a great protagonist on his home track. For this race, the Terni rider from Team Pramac uses the GP14.2, the same bike in the hands of team-mate Yonny Hernandez, who was only seventeenth today.

The “Petrux” is ahead of Bradley Smith's Yamaha, tester Michele Pirro's Ducati and Cal Crutchlow's Honda, which closes the Top Ten.

Uphill start for Andrea Iannone, only thirteenth. The Ducati rider was also the victim of a fall, which fortunately resolved without physical consequences. Iodaracing's Alex de Angelis from San Marino also crashed and finished twenty-third. He also got up without problems.

It seems to me that all the top 4 are hiding a bit on the best times, both on the flying lap and on the pace, it doesn't seem to me that they are giving their all, they mask the performance a lot from one lap to the next, especially when they change bikes and tyres. It's likely they're also working on different settings.

They still have a rather indecisive approach, despite the tests done, they are still testing all the possibilities, perhaps they studied basic settings in the tests and today they wanted to have some comparisons to understand which path to take.

It seemed like a more intense Friday than usual, and they seemed more open towards the choice for the race, especially in Yamaha.
