MotoGP – Losail QP1 – Randy De Puniet will start with the 7th fastest time

Randy De Puniet, rider of the LCR Honda MotoGP Team, closed the official night practice session in 7th position on the Losail track in Qatar, the first test of the 2009 world championship. The Frenchman astride the #212 Honda RC14V worked hard together with the his team and finished in 9th position in the 45 free practice sessions which took place at 19pm local time. The 00-year-old Frenchman clocked up 28 laps in the two sessions, setting his best time in 36'1. In qualifying he then obtained the seventh best time, a result that satisfies him. He has the microphone.

“I'm happy because we did a good job in the three practice sessions and I improved my performance a lot with the soft tyres. We have made some changes to the chassis and finally the bike corners better and I am more aggressive when entering corners. We've been working on it for a while and now I feel comfortable. The winter was tough because there wasn't much time to fine-tune the bike so the third row at the first GP is an excellent result. I'm adapting well to the Bridgestone tires and I aim to finish the race in the top six.”
