MotoGP Jerez: Dani Pedrosa, “Winning in Jerez is fantastic”
First victory of the season for Pedrosa, true dominator of the entire weekend
GP Jerez MotoGP Repsol Honda Team – Dani Pedrosa achieved his first victory of the season in Jerez. The Repsol Honda Team rider dominated throughout the weekend, taking the checkered flag ahead of his team-mate Marc Marquez and Jorge Lorenzo's Ducati, for an all-Spanish podium. For Pedrosa it is victory number 30 in the Top Class, he has the say.
“The feeling is beastly. I'm very happy. Winning in Jerez which I like so much and in front of the fans, the team and getting this result after the work done is fantastic. There was pressure before the start, then I left and everything was fine. I found myself in front and tried to manage, the track condition was different from the tests, the front was slipping a lot – said Dani Pedrosa – I chose the hard at the front even though the medium was my favourite. The pace was smaller than we expected, I tried to keep Marc there when he started to push. It was very easy to make a mistake because the front was slipping. I knew that in the end he would have less movement but I'm happy with my choice. I knew that on this track I ride very well while Marc struggles, he tried to take the lines from me yesterday, but I knew that my pace was good. Today I was more focused on myself than on others. If you look at what Yamaha did in this race the result is anomalous, they are always the favorites here, it's a bit strange. The other day at Le Mans they were fast, I don't know what happened.”
