MotoGP Assen, Free Practice 2: Spies ahead of Crutchlow and Hayden

Rossi did well, Casey Stoner was in difficulty, only tenth and struggling with chattering

The second free practice session of the MotoGP class in Assen (stage of the seventh stage of the 2012 world championship) saw a really tight session. The first eleven riders are in fact within less than half a second and Ben Spies, Yamaha Factory rider, came out on top. The American who lapped in 1:34.866 preceded his brand mate Cal Crutchlow by just 6 thousandths and the Ducati of a positive Nicky Hayden by 102 thousandths, which brings the Borgo Panigale team back to the top positions.

Kentucki Kid is followed by the Honda of Alvaro Bautista who preceded his compatriots Jorge Lorenzo (fastest this morning and 191 thousandths behind Spies) and Dani Pedrosa, sixth at 214 thousandths with the Honda RC213V of Team Repsol. Andrea Dovizioso with the second Yamaha of Team Tech 3 is seventh ahead of Valentino Rossi, who has never been so close to the top. Although eighth, in fact, his gap is only 430 thousandths, a good recovery after the problems of Free Practice 1 which saw him almost a second from the top.

Evidence that Ducati seems to "like" Assen is the ninth position of Hector Barberà, who fell immediately at the start of the session, got back on the second bike and finished just 2 thousandths behind Rossi. Strangely, closing out the Top Ten we find a "furious" Casey Stoner, who really doesn't seem to "digest" the new Bridgestone front tire (which debuted at Silverstone) which causes chattering at the front of his Honda. This morning the Australian, like Pedrosa, had tested a new chassis which however was temporarily discarded.

A big problem for Honda and the reigning champion who, if they want to counter Lorenzo in the title fight, must absolutely resolve or at least limit this problem. Behind Stoner we find Stefan Bradl with the Honda of Team LCR. The 2011 Moto2 world champion precedes the two CRTs of Team Power Electronics Aspar of Aleix Espargarò and Randy De Puniet who in turn are ahead of the FTR Honda of Michele Pirro's Team Gresini.

A Bridgestone won him a World Championship; a Bridgestone will make him lose it…
It is the famous "law of retaliation".
Ask a certain Dante Alighieri for clarification on the matter ;-)

Ullalà Stoner also got them from Bautista as well as Pedrosa, to name a few... eehh good times when Bridgestone made tires just for him! Ducati in form and Hayden was also on pole for a few minutes and Rossi also posted a 4th time. Let's hope well for tomorrow.

You have to tell it to those who think only the Rider counts and not the bike.
In Rossi's case they blame him who suddenly only manages to prove that it was just a bluff that lasted 15 years, since he has his ass on that missile that is Ducati.
In Stoner's case, however, they curse the "rubber" and Uncle Carmelo who - according to them - forced Bridgestrone to make a shitty tire to make the Hondas lose on purpose.
      Ahahahahahahahahaha!
If there wasn't anything to cry about...

What do you want, some time ago a certain H945ecc had said (to you if I'm not mistaken) that he would be more objective and would try to shoot less bullshit..
Instead, pushed by other emeritus Nobel Prize winners to the rant that they have added, he continues to spout his emeritus bullshit. For this reason it is now a mission to respond in kind or provoke them in turn hehe.

But why do you care so much about tests? It's the races that count, wait for those.

in my opinion, given the first races (it seemed like Lorenzo was out of the fight) he wanted to go as champion but it suits him... who spits on the plate where he is eating and will feed his children and his children's children the minimum punishment is to leave like this!!!!! what did you win in the end??? 1 Bridgeston World Championship and 1 Honda!!! I speak like some people on this anti red forum!!!!

    1. fatman said:

…the real tests are tomorrow… meanwhile Rossi is still eighth…

...and precedes Stoner by 8 thousandths...tomorrow everyone will eat...

    I think you're talking bullshit
if one doesn't work, it doesn't work, there are problems, they all have red ones, it's 2 years behind, so if Honda can't solve a problem, I imagine how Ducati can do it, today they produced another frame, Ducati makes a piece every year...(I don't want to criticize ducati, it's to make people understand the difference between a honda and ducati in terms of money and other things)

  • W_il_Sic said:

And in any case there's no point in worrying about the free ones.
Usually they don't say anything that turns out to be premonitory for the following days.
Qualifying is tomorrow and the race the day after tomorrow.

It's worth waiting until at least Saturday 16pm to indulge in the usual frenzy...

For me, at the race on Saturday, Rossi gives 30" to everyone and wins hands down, after all, he is the phenomenon, the best of the best, the greatest of all time!
Let's hope that at least now they don't tear me to pieces.
    Ha ha ha!!!

I can't understand who writes about Bridgestone but is there really anyone who thinks or throws it out there?? I would like to remind you that the Bridgestones were adopted and developed by Ducati, Suzuki and Kawasaki as early as 2005 as there was no cat food with the Michelin that churned out the rubber on Saturday night for ONLY one, then these teams armed with courage undertook the 'Bridgestone adventure with figures even barbies while many jumped on the sofa without wondering why, in 2007 the year of the SWEATY and REAL WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP of Ducati I wanted to remember that in 2nd and 3rd position 2 Michelin riders were classified with Pedrosa ahead of the 46, Capirossi also had the bridgestones but was 201 points behind the (TRUE) World Champion Casey, so for the conspiracy theorists it doesn't hold up. Now Dorna has illegally introduced tire 33 precisely to stop Casey. there is a Moto GP driver who made his fortune on tyres, his fans should connect their brains before writing. Nice lap in Pedrosa's wake hahahahah it wasn't Barbera, too bad he was no longer able to replicate it, copy Hayden's set-ups and Barbera's strategy GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

…ah, ah, ah…great, you took the words out of my mouth!!! Come on, from next year there will be a special rubber for a very special driver...let's hope that once he has won his tenth title he will go to F1...with his trusty little friend Uccio!!!

      1. H954RR said:

For me Casey should have revealed all the reasons for his retirement at the end of the season, in doing so, strangely enough, after his statements he made someone angry (who knows who) and it's getting worse and worse, Honda strangely and it seems impossible is unable to to solve chatter problems, are they all cases?
For me it's my uncle's mafia that is doing everything to put them at a disadvantage and the overwhelming proof will be next year if most of them return to Honda and the chronic motorbike disease is miraculously cured.
Nothing but lies, it's the mafia and always to favor one person!
The thing that would make me laugh the most is that Casey would change his mind if he didn't win the title. Do you know how much stomach acid there is for his uncle?

Here I am, an example of education personified.

Well he gets agitated because he has no arguments to seriously debate, when it suits him there are people who win thanks to phantom help, when it suits him other people lose because there are conspiracies (they must have learned from Frederick, in fact I put them all on the same plane and have the same thickness). Anything to avoid admitting that their champion is boiled and that he isn't even capable of adapting to a rubber, which happens to be the same one with which a certain Bautista played him great.

Finally the truth comes out... Ducati had a big problem... Stoner... even a Mongolian would have won on that bike... unique tires and great overtaking, on the straight, and then? in the name of stoner they treated everyone like shit... Capirossi, Melandri, Gibernau, etc etc... and a fucking rider who isn't even capable of giving directions, no team has a third rider to give advice on how the bike is on the track because the first rider isn't capable, and he ran away as soon as possible and now the hohda has the same problems, what's the case? He can be a fool but he proved everything, he exchanged the bike with Biaggi and won, he won, broken and not even walking , no matter what the arm, Ducati should have gone after him immediately instead of giving him bikes prepared on that idiotic stoner, see last year, luckily you're auditing him now... to understand each other in Ferrari it was the same and they changed everything and the results were there, what does the history of supporting engines have to do with a motorcycle prototype championship that doesn't exist??? the superbike is another thing, and Ducati is strong there even if it tries hard not to want to win, what the fuck did it have to do with bringing the old bike this year to name one and to name another... I switched from a cbrr 1000 to a 997.. and with the cost of one I could buy two and a half of the other!! so in superbyke the game is easy since they already fan road track bikes and it's absurd but it would be better to run it with the panigale because there was a project and a sense unlike the gp..an engineer who I'm not coming! because his motorbike doesn't discharge as it should, with the data in hand he has to go home!! and a team manager who says sixth is fine should accompany him!!! as always, as Italians we spit shit at our team, we are made like that but facts and championships count and in Moto GP only one can speak since when not them he won, he lost them like the one won by Hayden who threw a lot of stuff on the lap then on average gets a lot of slaps and that's it!!

  • * Marco said:

For now the slaps are taken by 46 and... also the trims.

One thing is clear...Honda and Stoner in difficulty (not in crisis...that concerns other riders); Without arguing with Dorna and Ezpeleta I would like to point out a small detail and that is that already in the winter tests Stoner and Pedrosa said that their bike suffers from a slight chatter, the HRC 2123v was fitted with "old" tyres.. I remember that Stoner said "if this is the level of Chatter I could easily live with it because the overall feeling is good"...maybe with a Lorenzo and a tuning fork in this form this wouldn't be enough...anyway Honda has had Chatter before...it's just that with the introduction of the 33 has gotten much worse (before it was little and only on the rear. Now it's a lot and so on the front which also manifests itself to a greater extent on the rear dinghy), what to do? working in Japan with the engineers and on the track with the riders to find a solution...a chassis came out...we'll see.
Was Stoner wrong to say what he said? he is now said... in my opinion he did what he felt like doing; Did Carmelo put a spanner in his works? 33 and ballast? I don't want to believe this. I want to say to the Australian fans (including me), the world championship is difficult... but let's not get caught up in conspiracy delusions... I believe that Honda and Stoner have all the intention and ability to defend the title, if Lorenzo wins... much merit and honor! the difference between those who love this sport and the fans lies precisely in this...you lose and without excuses...Come on Casey...if you win this world championship it will be a memorable feat!!

    1. * Marco said:

well said, today I heard the 46 being defended as having taken pay from karting karts...but is it possible?? not to mention Troy's pay defenses at WDW…….
