MotoGP GP Malaysia Sepang Honda Repsol Day 1 – Johann Zarco ended the first day of free practice at the Malaysian Grand Prix, the penultimate stage of the 2019 MotoGP, in fourteenth position in the combined time standings.

The Frenchman, in his second race aboard the Honda, is slowly improving. In the first session he recorded the sixteenth time, about two seconds from the top, while in the Malaysian afternoon, he managed to improve by over 4 tenths which could have been more if he had not slipped in the time attack.

Statements Johann Zarco Team GP Malaysia Sepang Free Practice

“It was a good first day. I wanted to start Friday with a better pace than I did in Australia. I was sure I could do it and I did. In the morning we kept the used tire while in the afternoon we did another program. I was going quite fast in FP2, I was with the fast guys. But in the end when I put on a soft tire to get the lap time, my first lap was a bit slow I was expecting to go faster on my last lap but I crashed at the first corner. It was a normal fall, no pain. Now I'll just focus on improving tomorrow and I know I can get below 59."
