Moto3 Jerez, Free Practice 1: Isaac Vinales in the lead, Fenati is fifth
Further back Niccolò Antonelli is sixteenth and ahead of Enea Bastianini
The riders of the Moto3 class opened the "dance" as usual, this time on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit, the fourth stage of the 2014 world championship. A completely clear sky and almost summer temperatures were the setting for the first free practice session, of what is becoming a really interesting class for Italian colours, especially thanks to Romano Fenati (Team SKY VR46), winner last week on the new Argentine circuit of Termas de Rio Hondo.
The fastest of these FP1s was Isaac Vinales, a Spanish KTM rider. The Team Calvo rider stopped the clock at a time of 1:47.388, a time 311 thousandths better than that set by his compatriot Alex Marquez, riding the Honda of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0.
Third time for Vinales' team-mate, the Czech Jakub Kornfeil and fourth for Alex Rins, second rider of Team Estrella Galicia 0,0. The first of the Italian riders is Romano Fenati, winner last week in Argentina and author of the fifth fastest time, 979 thousandths from the top.
The Team Sky VR46 rider is ahead of Vazquez, Ajo and Binder. Closing out the Top Ten are Peter Oettl and Danny Kent. Niccolò Antonelli and Enea Bastianini (Junior Team GO&FUN) have the sixteenth and seventeenth time, followed by Maria Herrera, winner here at the CEV and present as a wild card with Honda.
The other Italians are Alessandro Tonucci 21st (and fell without physical consequences), Francesco Bagnaia 23rd and Matteo Ferrari 26th.

yes it is true that the Italian drivers are starting to come forward but there is a Spanish problem that is starting to put a spanner in the works (see the penalty point for FENATI and MARCHEZ who had triggered the accident) they got away with it (do you remember when the SPANISH year started with SIMINCELLE?) well I feel like I'm reliving that period or not!!!
