Moto3 GP Australia Phillip Island Qualifying – Qualifying for the Australian Grand Prix in the Moto3 class took place in bizarre weather.

Q1, which began on a dry track, was interrupted by red flags due to oil left on the track by wild card Yannis Shaw's Kalex KTM.

It then started to rain heavily while the stewards "threw" the filler on the oil left at turn 4 by the Double Six MotorSport Team driver.

Subsequently, after about 20 minutes the drivers looking for entry into Q2 entered the track with rain tires and the first 4 who qualified for the final phase of qualifying were Can Oncu, Tony Arbolino, Jaume Masia and Tom Booth-Amos .

Q2 started with the track dry and all the drivers on track looking for the best lap with slick tyres.

Despite a few drops of rain, the entire session was held on dry tires and Marcos Ramirez took pole position, making his first start from the pole in his career.

The Team Leopard driver set the best lap with a time of 1:39.976. With him on the front row Aron Canet (KTM Max Racing Team) and Albert Arenas (KTM Angel Nieto).

Second row for three Hondas, that of the British John McPhee (Team Petronas), the Japanese Kaito Toma (Team Asia) and our Lorenzo Dalla Porta (Team Leopard), with the latter who could become the 2019 Moto3 World Champion tomorrow .

Three Italians in the third row: Andrea Migno (KTM Mugen Race), Romano Fenati (Honda Snipers) and Celestino Vietti (Sky Racing Team VR46).

Fifth row (thirteenth fastest time) for Tony Arbolino, who in the final phase of the session saw his Honda fall silent, apparently due to lack of petrol.

Crash at turn 1 for Niccolò Antonelli. The driver of Team SIC58 Squadra Corse, who got up in pain and was holding his right shoulder, finished 18th.
