Moto2 | Australian GP Qualifying: Navarro on pole, Marini on the front row
Third pole of the season for the Speed Up driver
Moto2 GP Australia Phillip Island Qualifying – Qualifying for the Moto2 class at Phillip Island, scene of the Australian Grand Prix, was characterized by the weather.
The riders took to the track on slick tires with the sky threatening rain. The first part of Q2 was held on a dry track and slick tyres.
The fastest until 5 minutes from the end, when it started raining again (all FP3 and part of the Moto3 qualifying were held on a wet track, ed.) was Jorge Navarro, who therefore won pole position for the Grand Prix of Australia Moto2 class.
For the Speed Up rider, this is the third pole of the season, the fourth in his career in the intermediate class of the MotoGP.
In the front row with Navarro we find the KTM of Brad Binder and our Luca Marini (Sky Racing Team VR46), the latter winner at Buriram and Motegi.
The rookie Fabio di Giannantonio (Speed Up) will open the second row where we also find the other rookie and 3 Moto2018 world champion, Jorge Martin and Sam Lowes, with the Briton from Team Gresini who however will start from the last position on the grid due to the penalty inflicted in free practice.
Followed by Alex Marquez (seventh time), Jecko Raffin (NTS) and our Marco Bezzecchi (KTM Tech 3).
Thirteenth, fourteenth and eighteenth times for Nicolò Bulega (Sky Racing Team VR46), Stefano Manzi (MV Agusta Forward) and Enea Bastianini (Team Italtrans).
