Moto2: Rattapark Wilairot will not participate in the Australian Grand Prix

Rattapark Wilairot will not take part in the Australian Grand Prix, sixteenth stage of the 2011 world championship. This is due to the collision triggered by Marc Marquez on the return lap at Phillip Island, in the first session. The Spaniard was penalized for this incident and will start from the back of the grid.

After having carried out the CT scan at the Alfred Hospital in Melbourne, which fortunately showed no fractures but which highlighted the very violent blow to the neck, ankle and left knee, it was decided not to allow the Thai driver to participate in the race.

Wilairot, who is fully conscious and speaks normally, commented: “I don't understand what happened and I don't remember. I only know that the tests were over and I had slowed down to see the checkered flag when I saw that I had set a best lap of 1'35"829, then when I entered the left curve, I felt a strong blow to the rear of the motorcycle and I was thrown into the air.
