Moto2 Misano: Andrea Iannone: “This was a very difficult race”

The Italian of Team Speed ​​Master Andrea Iannone must "settle" for the third step of the podium at home. The Abruzzo native started from the second row and the good conditions for the race had increased after the confirmation of the warm up which saw him in the top 5. Adding to these positive factors was the "pole" obtained for the second starting grid, the failure of Rea's engine and the consequent oil leak on the track forced the stewards to give the red flag and therefore to start again after just 3 laps. Iannone, who had managed to pass the poleman Marc Marquez in time to obtain pole in his turn, restarted well but was then unable to keep up with his rival from Team Catalunya Caixa Repsol nor that of the other Catalan from Team HP 40 Pons Pol Espargaro. In fact, the two engaged in a spectacular duel, relegating a spectator Iannone to third place. The Abruzzo native had complained at the start of the race about a concern with the gearbox, the two Spaniards had in fact opted for a 6-speed gearbox while Andrea had reversed his decision on one with 5. The choice was probably not the right one, however the result it is still satisfactory, as the pilot himself states.

“This was a very difficult race. I tried to push from the start, because after the first start we realized that we hadn't made the best choice regarding the gearbox and it was difficult to stay with Espargaró and Marquez. In the second race I tried to gain a bit of a margin, but it wasn't easy. Marc and Pol caught up with me and I lost the advantage we had. We are on the podium and it is always a positive result, now we will see how Aragón goes and let's hope for a good weekend.”
