Amazing pole position in the Moto2 class in Aragon for Simone Corsi, rider of Ioda Racing. The Roman centaur thus achieved his first pole position in the intermediate class of the world championship (he hadn't started from pole since 2008), which until now had only been achieved for Italy by Andrea Iannone (5 poles), Michele Pirro and Claudio Corti, both with a pole.

“Simoncino” achieved it with a time of 1:54.343, a time 191 thousandths better than that set by “Polyccio” Espargarò, riding the Kalex of Team Pons 40 HP Tuenti. Also on the front row is another Italian, the Abruzzo native and next Ducati rider Andrea Iannone, trailing by just 275 thousandths.

Great Italy also with the excellent Claudio Corti, leading until a few minutes from the end and losing the front row by just 94 thousandths. The Team Italtrans driver (4th) preceded two Spaniards, the surprise Jordi Torres and the 2011 world champion of the eighth-litre Nico Terol, both Team Aspar drivers and who drive a Suter.

World championship leader Marc Marquez, riding the Suter, was only seventh. The Team Catalunya Caixa Repsol driver tried until the end to snatch pole, but a bad slip at the entrance to the curve leading onto the finishing straight made him lose precious time and in the end he closed 534 thousandths behind Corsi.

In the third row we also find the British Bradley Smith (Tech 3) and Scott Redding, riding the Kalex of the Marc VDS Racing Team. Behind them, closing the Top Ten, is Johann Zarco who had been the fastest in the wet. Uphill qualifying for Alex de Angelis, who immediately crashed and finished in eighteenth position. Alessandro Andreozzi also crashed and fortunately, despite the bad "crash", nothing seems to have happened (he finished 30th). As in Free Practice 3, Elena Rosell managed to get behind some riders, this time Jesko Raffin and Marco Colandrea.
