Everything is ready on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit for the 125cc race of the Spanish GP. The climatic conditions, unlike recent days, are not the best. After the morning rain, the weather is still cloudy, the asphalt is damp but dries out gradually: a big headache for the riders who are all on rain tyres.

When the traffic lights went out, Cortese lost first position to Nico Terol, who started very well from the second spot on the grid, followed by Vazquez and Faubel. Terol tries to pull away from everyone from the first metres, while poleman Cortese continues to lose positions. The Portuguese Oliveira did well, placing himself behind Vazquez in third position.

A few laps from the start, Terol already has more than 2 seconds ahead of the group of riders following, but it is his teammate Hector Faubel who is putting himself forward in pursuit of first position. The Spaniard, in fact, passes Vazquez and Oliveira and turns hard to catch Terol: the rain, however, begins to fall on the track again.

On the sixth lap, bad high-side for the Portuguese Oliveira who was doing very well, while Cortese recovers positions and catches up with Vazquez. But it is up front that the challenge between Terol and Faubel is increasingly looming: the latter in fact puts in a series of fast laps, and on the seventh lap he passes his teammate to take first position. Terol, however, doesn't seem to give up: on the tenth lap he overtakes Faubel and begins to gain tenths of a lead again. In the meantime, track conditions become more uncertain: Salom and Webb also crash. With ten laps to go, the rain begins to fall heavily on Jerez de la Frontera.

Nice tussle for the third position on the podium: the Blusense Aprilia rider Maverick Vinales enters very strongly on Cortese and Vazquez to recover positions, even coming close to contact with the Spaniard, but after a few seconds he breaks down and is forced to retire. Jonas Folger then joins the group, immediately behind Cortese. In the meantime, the fight for the victory between Faubel and Terol continues: the two, in fact, alternate in first position, trying to push each other ahead in the wet. Behind, with five laps to go, Folger is third while Cortese falls: the Italian-German returns to the track in seventh.

The rain continues to fall harder and harder: with three laps to go, Faubel leads from Terol, but on the penultimate lap the positions are reversed again. Twist on the last lap: Faubel falls and leaves his teammate to win the Spanish GP. Jonas Folger is second, while Zarco is third. The poleman Sandro Cortese finishes the race sixth, and Faubel, after the fall, is eleventh.
