The first Winter Test session on the Jerez de la Frontera circuit ended today: a lot of work on the track for the numerous teams involved, in fact 27 drivers were on track, who will now continue development in Portimao and again on the Andalusian circuit, before flying to Australia.

The best time was once again set by Jonathan Rea, despite a fall, in 1'39.809, 4 tenths ahead of Tom Sykes who pushed hard towards the end of the second day, grabbing third place overall.
Between the two Ninjas we find Lorenzo Savadori who surprised under the Spanish sun, not only with the laps covered - over 70 laps - but also with the time trial, stopped just +0.111 behind Rea.
Probably achieved with Pirelli qualifying tyres, his lap time of 1'39.920 is an indication of the pace that the RSV4 RF will be able to show in the new season.
Teammate Eugene Laverty continued working on the set-up of the new bike and finished fourteenth fastest, having been involved in an accident with Randy Krummenacher.

Marco Melandri finished in fourth place overall, after also taking the lead of the standings at the end of the morning, ahead of Chaz Davies, who continued to focus on updates to the Panigale R.

The new Fireblade took to the track for the second day, completing 67 laps with Nicky Hayde: despite not yet being at 100% due to his knee injury, the American improved his performance, finishing sixth in 1' 40.548.
Stefan Bradl placed himself in ninth position, 1'40.854, continuing his adaptation to the new bike and the new category.

In Yamaha Alex Lowes concentrated on the development of the YZF R1, completing 83 laps and improving his time reference by a full 4 tenths, while newcomer Michael van der Mark secured a place in the top ten with a 1'41.450.

The only BARNI Racing Team rider, Xavi Fores, made progress on his Panigale R, finishing today in eighth position, less than a second behind Rea.
The rookie of the top class, Randy Krummenacher (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing) faced a challenging day and was forced to go to the medical center due to a fall suffered two hours before the end of the session, fortunately without consequences.

A complicated day also for the Althea BMW Racing team with Jordi Torres who was forced to stop work due to an injury to his right arm suffered following a high side at turn three, while for Reiterberger there remains a lot of work to do in view of 2017.

Four Supersport teams also tested ahead of the first round at Phillip Island: Zulfhami Khairudin (Orelac Racing VerdNatura) continued to maintain a competitive pace, setting the best time in 1'44.410.
Jules Cluzel (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda) made a big improvement by starting to change his riding style and finished in second position, ahead of teammate Robin Mulhauser.
Nacho Calero took fourth place in the general classification and preceded Kyle Ryde (Kawasaki Puccetti Racing), while the classification is completed by Hikari Okubo (CIA Landlord Insurance Honda), as Federico Caricasulo and Lucas Mathias recorded no times.

The European Superstock 1000 teams were also on track in Jerez: the Aruba.it Racing – Junior Team, which set the best time in 1'43.343 with Michael Rinaldi, followed by teammate Mike Jones, the Althea BMW Racing Team with Marco Faccani and the Althea MF84 with Julian Puffe.
