The interviews with Biaggi and Rossi after the first tests of the German GP

biaggi:

He's focused and still on pole: in short, Biaggi is serious.

“Of course and I'm happy with the provisional pole.”

How's your Yamaha??

“I'm quite satisfied. He doesn't perform badly and can still improve."

What will you do for tomorrow?

“We will work on the suspension to make my Yamaha more agile and more rideable on tight corners. We have to find the compromise between the settings of the fork and the shock. but we will limit ourselves to finishing work."

Today, however, the bike seemed fine.

“Yes, we have already found a good base and we will not touch the chassis. I use the same gearbox as in 2000 and it doesn't give me any problems."

What has changed compared to the Donington race?

“Compared to that set-up, the suspension balance is a little different. However the settings of my Yamaha remain very similar. And even the changes made to this track haven't changed much."

How is this new route?
“There is a faster and more streamlined part where we can use a few more horsepower but the track essentially remains a tortuous route, with almost obligatory lines where you can't invent much”.

But it's difficult?
“Not particularly from a driving point of view, but it's treacherous because it gives you little room for manoeuvre, especially when braking. If you make a mistake you find yourself in the sand."

But she likes Biaggi at the Sachsenring?
“It doesn't excite me and I don't mind it.”

And how do you see Honda today, let's say, in crisis?

"I do not believe. It's only Friday and Barros and Capirossi are not far away and many things can change between now and Sunday evening”.

Red:

Rossi, but this is another qualifying to forget?

“Let's say I was also a little tired and used to it differently.”

Refers to the latest tests?

“Yes, it may partly depend on the fact that with all the tests I did for the Suzuka “8 hours” I got used to the
riding the Superbike which, to be honest, excites me and I like it much less than the 500".

It's also justified because she's usually strong here.

"It is true. In 2000 I managed to go quite well, while today I was decidedly slow and in the first part of the
tracked, I took a life from everyone.”

Exactly, what do you say about the route?

“They did a great job here. I'm happy that the Sachsenring has been changed."

And the new part?

"Yes I like it. It's fast and technical and reminds me a bit of Brno."

But there is something she doesn't like about the German circuit?

“Yes, I still don't like the first part of the track. It's too slow and definitely not suitable for a class like
the 500".

Aside from his fitment issues, what was wrong with his Honda today?

“I think it was just a bike setup problem. Today my NSR was very slow shifting
of direction and I couldn't enter the corner with sufficient determination."

Worried about tomorrow?
“Well. Together with the technicians we looked at the telemetry data which confirmed my impressions. Also to
Donington on Friday I was so far behind, but there I had an excuse: that stiff neck in the morning and a crash at 200 km/h. Here, however, we just have to hope that it doesn't rain tomorrow and then trust in the skill and experience of Jerry Burgess and the guys on the team."
In short, what is his dream?

“It doesn't take much for me: finding a transformed motorbike tomorrow”.
