Honda Motor Europe has announced that Chris Pike will take over from Marco Chini as Operations Manager for the Superbike World Championship, and will therefore be responsible for managing Honda's operational and technical support for Team Red Bull Honda World Superbike and Triple M .

Pike has great experience in the world of racing: at Honda he was team leader in the Superbike World Championship from 2012 to 2014 before making the move to MotoGP, but he also worked in the Endurance World Championship and British Superbike.

His appointment takes effect immediately ahead of the first round of the world championship, at Phillip Island, Australia, from 23 to 25 February.

“I am very happy to have been promoted to the role of Operations Manager of Honda Motor Europe in the Superbike World Championship; a championship of which I have many good memories” – he said Chris Pike – “Although it is a return to a championship that I know very well, this is a completely new challenge for me and I am eager to implement everything I have learned over the years to help Honda be a force in this series very competitive."

“Chris has been part of the Honda Racing family for over twenty years and his vast and varied experience will be a real asset to our World Superbike operation” – added Robert Watherston, Head of Motorsport at Honda Motor Europe – “Now that Honda has three CBR1000RR on the grid, expert supervision from both a technical and operational perspective is key. In Chris I believe we have the ideal candidate to forcefully push this project forward and help us achieve our goals."
