USA Superbike: Laverty “I didn't expect this result”

THEaprilia-racing can be considered satisfied after this US trip. In great shape with Eugene Laverty third and first, average with Sylvain Guintoli, fifth in both races.

“In the first heat I struggled a lot to stay with the leaders and I only managed to grab the podium on the last lap – said the Irishman – I have to thank the team who intervened significantly on the bike and allowed me to ride better on Sunday despite the poor grip. Giugliano and Sykes didn't make the victory easy for me and I pushed from start to finish. It's a result that I didn't expect and which puts me in second place among the riders. At Magny Cours last year I struggled, but my RSV4 has grown a lot so things could change, while Jerez is our test track where we could have an advantage. I will have to give 100% in every session. I dedicate the victory to my track engineer Marco Bertolatti, who became a father in these hours."

“A disappointing second race. I expected much more - the Frenchman's opinion - I thought I could have overtaken both Sykes and my partner but instead I suffered attacks from Melandri and Giugliano and lost contact. The pace was really high and when you lose a few meters it's difficult to mend the gap. Like on Saturday I missed something in the fray. I have to find my concentration again, because the speed is there. In a few days we go to France where I hope to recover important points."
