Great emotions at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli in Race 1 of the eighth round of the championship: Tom Sykes starts well and maintains the lead of the group from the start until the checkered flag, with an impressive pace, without any of the pursuers being able to worry him more than that.

The real battle takes place behind him, with Rea and the two Panigales of Giugliano and Davies battling it out for the podium, with Haslam and Biaggi further back.
Apart from Sykes, the protagonist of the race was the Welsh Ducati rider, who was literally launched in pursuit of Rea and Giugliano in the final laps: overtaking his teammate, however, caused him to lose contact with the leader in the standings, and he had to settle for third place.
It's a shame because the pace was there at the end of the race, unlike the RSV4s which suffered from tire wear just when they had started to pick up pace: in particular for Max Biaggi we can say this.
The Roman driver eventually finished sixth behind Leon Haslam, with Torres out due to a crash already on the third lap.
Seventh was Ayrton Badovini who didn't shine as usual, eighth was a great Michele Pirro: his performance was excellent if you consider that he only arrived on Saturday, "in the running", at Misano following the injury of Luca Scassa, Ducati wildcard for this weekend.
Ninth and tenth, completing the top-10, were the two CBRs of Sylvain Guintoli and Micheal van der Mark, the latter making an error at the end which prevented him from being further ahead in the standings.

Appointment at 13pm with Race 10.

4 titles in the 250, winning debut at Suzuka with a Honda 500 Clienti ahead of Mick Doohan, vice that year, 2 superbike titles and an RSV4 developed to perfection as Haslam also says... 5 seconds from the finish line, certainly not like Vale, but well done and he has collected more than many other talented people who have never reached the checkered flag....
