The Superbike World Championship returns this weekend to Donington Park for the sixth round of the season and the official Ducati team presents itself on the British track fresh from a round in Imola marked on the one hand by the happy return of Davide Giugliano with a podium but on the other with two Chaz Davies withdraws due to technical failures.

Both official riders have never stood on the podium here in the premier class, but this year, if the Panigale confirms the excellent performances shown up to now, the task could be anything but possible.

“Donington is a track that I like and where last year we did well, obtaining pole and a fourth place, but I crashed in race 1 when my glove got stuck on the throttle – he recalled Giugliano, who gritted his teeth in the race in Imola, fighting against muscle fatigue due to three months of forced inactivity – This week I focused on training, to get back into shape as soon as possible. There's not much you can do in such a few days, but I've already been able to improve my physical condition. The races continue, and I suffered too much in Imola, so it's important to get back to being as competitive as possible, and as soon as possible."

Davies, for his part, didn't sit idle either, covering hundreds of kilometers by bicycle on the French Riviera.

“Last year Donington was an 'average' weekend – commented the Davies – Honestly it has always been a bit of a difficult track for me; I'd say it's comparable to Assen but, having said that, we've done well this season in Holland so we'll have to see what we can do once there. This is my home race and the support of my fans will be greatly appreciated. My goal, as always, will be to finish both races on the podium."
