After the summer break, the SBK championship restarts from the Nürburgring, a historic track reintroduced to the calendar in 2008.

Ranking leader Sylvain Guintoli (Aprilia Racing Team) is the favourite, having decided, in mutual agreement with the doctors following him, not to resort to surgery for his injured shoulder and second, Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team), determined to close the difficult performance at Silverstone and doing well on the track which two years ago saw him achieve his first category success in race 2.

After the convincing performance and the double English podium, the sharp turn of Eugene Laverty (Aprilia Racing Team) could arrive; Also expected is the BMW pair with Chaz Davies, winner in 2012 and Marco Melandri, eager for redemption given his crash in both heats last season. As far as Honda Pata is concerned, pay attention to Jonathan Rea who won in 2009 and 2010.

Leon Camier and Jules Cluzel (FIXI Crescent Suzuki) are aiming to fight for the top 3, fresh from placings in the UK, unlike the Ducati Alstare of Badovini and Checa from whom we expect at least a sign of recovery.

Finally, keep an eye on Davide Giugliano (Aprilia Racing Team), with a big heart, but too often out of the race.

The Australian Mark Aitchison was again present to replace the injured Alex Lundh in Team Pedercini Kawasaki.
