Despite the title already won last September, Jonathan Rea does not want to play a supporting role even on the first day of free practice at the Pirelli Qatar Round, the last round of the season.

The new Champion, in fact, closed today's two sessions with the absolute best time, stopping the clocks at 1'58.252 on the penultimate lap of today's second round, displacing from first position a Jordi Torres in great shape, author of the best time in the morning shift.

Rea, we remember, is looking for the 25 points he needs to reach the absolute points record in the Superbike World Championship.

Third place for Tom Sykes, just 19 thousandths ahead of his rival for the vice-champion spot of this edition, Chaz Davies.
Fifth position for Michael van der Mark who once again shows encouraging signs after the excellent tests in Jerez and Magny-Cours, and who places himself behind Leon Haslam, Xavi Fores, Randy de Puniet and Alex Lowes, with Niccolò Canepa completing the top 10.

Next appointment tomorrow at 12:00 with the third free practice session.
