Pirelli Aragon Round, Race 1 – It was decided one lap from the end of Race 1 of the Superbike on the Spanish circuit of Aragon. Chaz Davies was defending first position with his teeth from the attacks of world championship leader Jonathan Rea, when he lost control of his Ducati, saying goodbye to the dreams of glory cherished throughout the race (for him there were no physical consequences despite the fact that his leg was remained under the motorbike for the entire time of the slide).

The duel with Rea was excellent, as he won his fifth consecutive heat, increasing his world leadership, which now sees him in command with full points with 125 points. An excellent Marco Melandri then took the podium, ahead of Tom Sykes' Kawasaki.

Davies had started in the lead and remained there for many laps, leaving Rea in first position for only a few laps, but unfortunately for him and the Ducati fans the ending did not give a positive outcome.

An excellent comeback by Alex Lowes (Yamaha Pata), who started twelfth, finished fourth ahead of team-mate Michael van der Mark. Sixth and seventh position for the BMW S 1000 RR of Jordi Torres (best home rider) and for the Aprilia of the Argentinian Leandro Mercado, making his race debut with the Iodaracing Aprilia RSV4 RF.

Mercado preceded his brand mate Eugene Laverty and the Honda CBR1000RRs of Stefan Bradl and Nicky Hayden, who close the Top Ten. Alex de Angelis from San Marino reached the finish line in fifteenth position, ahead of Riccardo Russo.

Xavi Fores' race was also positive until the crash, as he crashed at turn 1 while he was in fifth position. The Ducati rider then returned to the track, but had to retire after his Panigale caught fire, creating quite a few problems for the Spaniard.

With the new regulation, Alex Lowes will start from pole tomorrow, who therefore has a great chance after the comeback in race 1.
