Superbike, Pirelli Aragon Round, FP1: Rea already imposes his pace

Despite the predictions on the eve of the day, Jonathan Rea was the fastest rider in FP1 on Friday morning at the Pirelli Aragón Round, setting a time of 1'50.570 ahead of Alex Lowes (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team) and Xavi Fores (BARNI Racing Team ): Kawasaki therefore still ahead of Ducati, at least in the first hour of action on the track.

After his perfect start in 2017, with four victories in four races, Rea continues to show excellent form and dominated the first free practice session albeit by just +0.071 ahead of Lowes, while the Spaniard Fores is at +0.158.

Jordi Torres (Althea BMW Racing Team) and Tom Sykes (Kawasaki Racing Team) complete the top 5, followed by Michael van der Mark (Pata Yamaha Official WorldSBK Team), Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati), Leandro Mercado (IODARacing ) and Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team riders Stefan Bradl and Nicky Hayden rounding out the top 10.

However, Chaz Davies (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) was delayed and had technical problems and was only able to take to the track for a short period, achieving the best time in 1'53.896, +3.326s from Rea.

the riders will now take to the track for the second free practice session, the last valid for the purposes of accessing tomorrow's Tissot-Superpole, at 14pm when there will be decidedly warmer temperatures awaiting them.
