Ducati Superbikes – 45-year-old Troy Bayliss set the eighteenth fastest time on the first day of Superbike testing at Phillip Island. The Australian rider, who returned to the Ducati to replace the injured Davide Giugliano, only completed a few laps due to a technical problem that occurred in the morning. Despite this, the "old man" and three-time Superbike world champion enjoyed riding the Panigale R. He has the say.

“I think I only completed 19 laps in total today. We lost the whole morning session due to a technical problem and it was a real shame. This afternoon we were able to make some progress and I started to feel more comfortable on the bike. I still don't have the necessary confidence with the rear at maximum lean and the bike tends to slide, but I'm sure that's something we can resolve tomorrow. There's still a lot of work to do obviously, but little by little we're getting there. The important thing is that I'm having a lot of fun riding the Panigale R and, all things considered, I'm happy since I wasn't able to spend much time on the track today.”

He lapped just over two seconds off the top with 19 laps on the track in the second session where it was warmer and the good times had been set in the morning; the last 4 consecutive laps he constantly lowered his time, and he's having a lot of fun :-), the set-up as expected isn't good, now he's putting his hands back on it, he and Davies and Giuliano will fly this season :-)
    Tomorrow is a Baylisstic day!!!
