It didn't help their opponents to sleep on it for an extra night: Jonathan Rea also wins the second race of the Yamaha Finance Australian Round, on the Phillip Island circuit, thanks to an error by Chaz Davies, who slips and ends up tenth at the finish line

As in Race 1, also in the second it was only the Welsh driver who seriously tried to annoy the reigning world champion, but in an attempt to respond to the overtaking immediately at the end of the 'Gardner Straight', he crashed at the 'Honda Corner'.

With him out of the picture, Rea wins the 31st career victory and celebrates with Michael Van der Mark, who repeats the second, splendid, podium of Race 1, his fifth personal one, and Davide Giugliano, who still brings a Panigale into the top 3.
The world championship standings sees Rea with full points with a lead of 24 points over Davies and 14 over Van der Mark.

Davide Giugliano is happy with his personal third place, achieved in the sprint on an excellent Nicky Hayden, fourth at the finish line, and more concentrated than in Race 1, we have a Tom Sykes still in difficulty who once again was unable to resist the comeback of the I protested behind him, in a script that was now worryingly repetitive.
A sixth place for him, also behind Sylvain Guintoli, which is incredible, on the negative side, if you think back to the extraordinary Tissot-Superpole achieved yesterday, and which inevitably brings us back to the topic of the comparison with his teammate, who instead in race seems unstoppable.

Returning to the race, distanced from the compact group of the top six, we have Jordi Torres seventh in comeback, ahead of the other BMW of Markus Reiterberger's Team Althea, who takes home a personal eighth place in his first experience on a complicated track like Phillip Island.
The top-10 is completed with Joshua Brookes, who brings another BMW to the points, that of the Milwaukee team, and Chaz Davies, who managed to get back on his Panigale and finish the race.
Alex De Angelis also scored points, having kept the honor high at Ioda Racing after the exit in the early stages of Lorenzo Savadori, unlucky after yesterday's good performance.
Xavi Fores was unable to take part in today's race: the Spaniard from the Barni Racing Ducati team suffered a broken finger yesterday in race 1.

The World Championship for production-based derivatives will meet in two weeks at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand, where Jonathan Rea will certainly already be attempting a small escape, boosted by the fact that last year he achieved his first double of the season here.
