Superbike: Nicky Hayden didn't make it
The world of two wheels mourns Kentucky Kid
The news we never wanted to give has arrived: Nicky Hayden didn't make it.
This was announced by an official press release from the Bufalini hospital in Cesena, where the 2006 MotoGP world champion had been hospitalized since Wednesday 17 May in the intensive care unit.
Hayden died due to serious injuries sustained in the accident that involved him while training on his bike, also on Wednesday, near Misano Adriatico.
Here is the text: "The medical board has confirmed the death of the patient Nicholas Patrick Hayden, hospitalized since last Wednesday 17 May in the intensive care unit of the Bufalini Hospital in Cesena following the very serious polytrauma which occurred on that same date".
The world of motorcycling and beyond joins in the condolences of the family, who arrived from the USA on Thursday in the person of their mother Rose and brother Tommy, while their father remained at home due to health problems.
In the hospital they did not leave Nicky alone for an instant, together with his girlfriend Jackie and the staff of the Red Bull Honda WSBK team, in whose ranks the American driver was competing for the second year in the top series derivative championship.
We salute a champion who unfortunately didn't manage to win the most important race.

It is not possible….
Terrible news, which unfortunately was in the air, the trauma he suffered was too serious.
When a tragedy like this happens, not even words exist, everything ends up falling into banality.
My thoughts go to his family, especially his mother and father, even if I don't know them personally, surviving children is the worst punishment that the Eternal Father can inflict on a parent, we experienced the loss of an 18 year old boy in our family, and this is the most incurable disease that exists in the world.
Have a good trip champion!
Hi Niky, how sad :-(
I'm dejected. Every day checking the news hoping for an improvement, and now…. I am speechless.
Greetings to a great driver and a good person.
Condolences to the family.
Hi Nicky, I still remember when you were presented to the press, the new face of MotoGP, directly from America, a kind face. Many years have passed and you have always remained one of the nice, serious ones, with few words and a lot of passion, even on superbikes. I'm really sorry, really. Goodbye Champion
Rest in peace boy!
Goodbye CHAMPION! You will forever be the only true *69!
Hi Nicky, it was nice being your fan. Thanks for everything…
