Race 1 of the Motul Italian Round, the fifth round of the season scheduled at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola, ended prematurely with six laps to go due to the red flags displayed following the scary accident that occurred to Eugene Laverty: the driver fortunately he appears to have not suffered any injuries but is currently at the Medical Center where his condition is being evaluated.

The fall, apparently due to the explosion of one of the suspensions of his Team Milwaukee RSV4 Aprilia, caused great concern and debris on the track, which is why the Race Direction decided to end the race, with the positions on the track at seven laps from the end.

Chaz Davies wins with the Ducati at the end of a race conducted alone without his rivals managing to worry him: starting off well at the start, together with his teammate Marco Melandri, he immediately built an important gap which allowed him to reach the finish line without take risks.
The two Kawasakis got off to a bad start, especially Tom Sykes, who then had to chase: only Jonathan Rea got the better of Marco Melandri for second place, while the comeback of the number 66 Ninja was interrupted by red flags.
The Aruba Racing Ducati Team can therefore also celebrate the third place of the man from Ravenna, if nothing else relaunching the race for the constructors' world title, given that Rea never gives up and even when he doesn't win he comes second.

Confirming that Imola is a track that is well suited to the Panigale, we find Xavi Fores in fifth place who continues a consistent weekend for Barni Racing, ahead of a good Leon Camier, sixth after a good battle with Eugene Laverty: the English MV Agusta rider However, he suffered grip problems at the rear and also had the front tending to close.
In seventh and eighth position we find the two Yamahas of Alex Lowes and Michael Van der Mark, with Roman Ramos bringing precious points to Team Go Eleven Kawasaki with ninth place and Stefan Bradl completing the top10.
Nicky Hayden's unlucky weekend continues, forced to retire due to a probable failure of his CBR Fireblade after just five laps.
On the previous lap Leandro Mercado had instead retired due to a fall, finally Jordi Torres did not take part in the race due to the gastroenteritis that is afflicting him: tomorrow his conditions for Race 2 will be assessed.

Appointment at 13pm with the departure of the eagerly awaited second race.
