Fassi Malaysian Round, Race 1. It was not a lucky first heat for the IodaRacing team which at the Sepang International Circuit saw both its drivers, Alex De Angelis and Lorenzo Savadori, leave the scene due to accidents on the track.

The regret is great especially for the young driver from Romagna who, after the extraordinary best time in Friday's free practice, started from a good seventh position on the grid and had a real chance of doing well and bringing home an important placing.

Unfortunately, a crash during the tenth lap, one lap after the same accident had been reported to his teammate, prevented him from finishing the race and now all his thoughts are turned to tomorrow's heat (Sunday 15 May, 10am: 00 in Italy) in which he will try to realize what he was unable to do today.

Savadori's performance at the start of the season is exceeding expectations and it is no coincidence that his name is starting to be compared to that of important teams: a slip can happen and he has all the motivation and ability to redeem himself immediately.

We report the statements that Lorenzo Savadori released on his official Facebook page:

“Unfortunately I didn't start at my best and this meant that many people passed me before the first corner. This really made me lose a lot of time at the start and this affected quite a bit because we were trying to make a tire conservation strategy in view of the second part of the race. The doubt remains whether we could have done better or not, also considering that in my fight with Lowes, I was catching up on him.
Unfortunately, however, I wasn't able to finish the race because my front suddenly closed without warning, something that had never happened to me all weekend.
It's a shame because this time we could perhaps have gone faster at the end of the race rather than at the beginning."

“It was a bit of a strange race for me” – these are the words of Alex De Angelis -“At the beginning I felt faster than the other riders who started with me, but being so far behind makes it difficult to express yourself at your best. Then I managed to catch Lorenzo Savadori and when we started to duel, but at that point two other riders who were coming from behind me also overtook me, so I completely lost the possibility of staying with the group in front. Afterwards I started to turn well again and then I slipped. It was a crash without warning, the front started to bounce and then I ended up on the ground. This is a new event because I have never encountered this behavior of the bike in the test sessions done up to this point, so I can say that it was an unexpected fall. Now we will look at the bike's data to try to understand the causes of this event."
